West Michigan Ear, Nose & Throat began nearly 30 years ago with the practice of Douglas J. Raedy, D.O. Many patients wonder what the difference is between a D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathy) and an M.D. (Medical Doctor).
In many ways, they are the same. Both complete the same basic medical education, internship and residency programs. Both pass comparable state licensing exams and use the same state-of-the-art technology. However, there is a key difference.
Doctors of Osteopathy complete their training with a slightly different philosophy — that all body systems are inter-related. An injury or illness in one part of the body can have a negative effect on another. Likewise, healing in one area can aid in the healing of another. West Michigan Ear, Nose & Throat is strongly rooted in this philosophy, and has grown as a result of the quality, comprehensive care that we continue to provide today. |
